Difference Between African And Asian Elephant
Difference Between African And Asian Elephant - African Elephant is actually composed of two different species, according to a recent DNA research. Not only that, they are also different species of the Asian elephant from Mammoth.
"The most striking is the difference between the genetic structure of African elephants grassland with forest elephants of Africa," said David Reich, chairman of the study, as quoted by National Geographics
According to the study, two main species of African elephants are genetically distinct from one another, widely different as they are with the Asian elephant species that are descended from Mammoth.
Difference-the difference is very much in the elephant family tree. DNA evidence is quite represent it.
Elephant African grasslands (Loxodonta africana) and African forest elephants (Loxodonta cyclotis) actually comes from a common ancestor approximately 2 to 5 million years ago, but they continue to evolve so that it can differ up to date.
