Banteng Hunting

Banteng Hunting
Australia has the only huntable population of Banteng in the world and Mary River Australian Safaris has the only privately owned and managed herd of Banteng in Australia.
These Banteng originate from the Coburg Peninsula and have been released into large areas of tropical country on Mary River Station (Mary River Australian Safaris) and offer the same exciting and quality hunting as on the Coburg Peninsula in the surrounds of our permanent base camp located beside the beautiful Mary River.
Mary River Australian Safaris will eventually become synonymous with Banteng Hunting Worldwide. These Banteng can be found in varying concentrations on the Ranch.
Like many animals the best time to locate them is in the evening or early morning. During this time they can be spotted feeding freely in the grasslands and less timbered areas. During the heat of the day they rest and head for more shaded and heavily timbered areas.
Trophy Bulls stand out from the rest of the herd due to their dark chestnut color, body size and length of horn. Banteng on Mary River always seem to be in excellent condition. Trophy Bulls can make up a fair percentage of a typical herd and some times you can come across bachelor groups of 3 - 4 or 5 mature Bulls.
The horns of a mature Bull Trophy measure around 17 to 18 inches in length, with some exceptional bulls tapping out at 22 plus inches. The average circumference of horn bases is around 12 inches. The style of horn can vary greatly from straight up to curing around and forward.
Mary River Australian Safaris usually allow 5 days including pick up and return to Darwin Airport to secure a trophy bull. Hunting is by way of 4WD as the Banteng move around a lot during our dry season.
It is not uncommon to cross paths with Brumbies, Wild Boar, Feral Buffalo and Wild Cattle as well as fresh and saltwater Crocodiles in a days Banteng Hunting.
We supply and recommend 375 cal upwards. No extra charge to use our Rifles thus saving the hassle of import permits.
Banteng are very large and command a lot of respect. Bantengs alert and suspicious behavior combined with the size and strengt and the fact that they are rare makes them one of the Top Game Animals of the Hunting World.
